"Stunning musical and, in particular, six-string intricacy... layers of lush, ringing, occasionally grimy and often heavily effected guitars" ~ Guitar World

"Guitarist Michael Ciravolo assembled an all-star cast for his moody hard-hitting album... Intense" ~ Rolling Stone

"Hauntingly heavy and beautiful" – LA Weekly

"A dream team of musicians, taking us on a sonic journey that blends haunting melodies with crushing riffs. Catchy hooks, superb melodicism" ~ The Spill Magazine

The ever-evolving, always revolving, world-wide entity known as Beauty In Chaos presents the latest offering from their latest album ‘Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Down’, recently released via 33.3 Music Collective'Made Of Rain (Almost Acoustic)' features BIC alumni Ashton Nyte and Whitney Tai.

Based in Los Angeles, Beauty In Chaos formed in 2018 by guitarist Michael Ciravolo (formerly of Human Drama and Gene Loves Jezebel and current President of Schecter Guitars) with Grammy-nominated producer Michael Rozon (Ministry, Jarboe, Wayne Hussey, The Melvins), who also mixed and co-produced Ministry’s new ‘Squirrelly Years Revisited’ album.

In following with BIC's modus operandi, ‘Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Down’ is a supersized 29-track Limited Edition double-CD, featuring re-envisioned versions of tracks from their fourth studio release, 'Dancing With Angels', in addition to two bonus tracks ('Children Of The Revolution' featuring Ministry’s Al Jourgensen and 'Open Your Eyes', paying homage to T.Rex / Marc Bolan and The Lords of the New Church, respectively).

“I absolutely love that we are able to create these ‘stripped-down’ versions of some of our songs, and more so, just how well these are received by our loyal BIC Family! The original version is very special and is probably my favorite song on ‘Dancing With Angels’, but there is also something really beautiful about this ‘almost acoustic’ version," says BIC curator Michael Ciravolo.

"Ashton and Whitney’s ‘duet’ is simply stunning, their voices totally complimenting each other. I love the track’s minimalistic approach, highlighted by Michael Rozon’s haunting pedal steel and BIC newcomer Heather Lockie’s tasteful violin. Tish’s rock-solid acoustic bass and my quasi ‘pink floyd’ inspired guitar lines support, without distracting, letting Ashton’s words and melody take the starring role!”

This new stunning rendition offers a delicate and emotional take on the song’s original version (the closing track on 'Dancing With Angels'). Directed by Vicente Cordero (Industrialism Films), the warm endearing video was filmed by Fernando Cordero and edited by Ryan Conlon. Michael Ciravolo shares “As always, we strive to make the new video drastically different from its predecessor, and the simple ‘lounge’ setting seemed fitting for this intimate track, certainly a polar opposite to the bombastic sonic and visual overload of “Hollow”, and as usual, Vicente helped bring this vision to life!”

"'Made Of Rain' is a song of hope. It is about getting up and trying again despite the scars life can leave. This "almost acoustic version" is very dear to me. I love the organic elements present: the pedal steel, violin, and, of course, Whitney Tai's beautiful, ethereal voice elevate this piece, making it something transcendental. Similarly, the video shoot was an almost spiritual experience. A celebration of friends and art. What more can you ask for?” asks Ashton Nyte of The Awakening, who will soon tour Europe in support of the band's self-titled album.

“Made Of Rain” is a warm amber glow in a velveteen speakeasy where tales of folk and longing send a message from the beyond. There’s a wisdom and a patience in Ashton’s voice. His lyrics swarmed in the magic of Beauty In Chaos’ production for the acoustic version hits different. Doing this duet with Ashton is a dream, as he is someone with the vocal tenacity of the wisest tree in the forest. Together, it felt like we planted wildflowers in a gentle field. What made this collab special for me apart from the music is the friendship that Michael, Ashton and I share. We are family and making art with feeling is at the forefront of our passions," says Whitney Tai, who appears on many BIC tracks. Her latest single 'Slumber Party' is out now, previewing her third full-length album 'American Wasteland' (out in September).

Beauty In Chaos also recently shared ‘Hollow’ (Crimson Cupid Mix)’ featuring Cynthia Isabella (of Silence In The Snow and Lost Gems). Past BIC releases involve members of The Cure, Ministry, Cheap Trick, The Offspring, Gene Loves Jezebel, Marilyn Manson, Human Drama, Bauhaus, Nine Inch Nails, Van Halen, A Flock of SeagullsdUg Pinnick, ICE-TRolan Bolan, and Zakk Wylde.

'Signs In The Heavens Reality Upside Down' is out now, available as a Limited Edition Double CD from the
Beauty In Chaos store, on CD and and also digitally – get it from the Beauty In Chaos store or on Bandcamp.

Money & Power released by Ruf Records on April 18th. The album is available on vinyl, CD and digital HERE.

Watch the official music video for the title track single "Money & Power."

“Money & Power is such a strong statement, especially for women,” says the award-winning Texas gunslinger of her Nashville-recorded album, on which Ally’s crack-squad band is joined by A-lister guests
Shemekia Copeland and Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram.

“All the songs on this album showcase the theme of what it truly means to be a force to be reckoned with. I want this record to wake people up,” continues Ally.

Money and power make the world go round. But in the right hands, music can be every bit as potent. Right now, on the heels of 2023’s acclaimed Real Gone – an album that hit #1 on the Billboard Blues Charts and was still in contention a year later – Ally is rated amongst the best young singer-songwriters in American roots, saluted by Total Guitar magazine in its poll of Top 100 Blues Guitarists.

“With her heels, sequins and Les Paul growling on a leash, she’s one of Ruf’s most head-turning young artists,” wrote Classic Rock, “and while the instrumental prowess can be taken as read, Real Gone marks a growing maturity in the Texan’s songcraft.”

In February 2024, with the dust still settling from Real Gone, the Money & Power sessions saw Ally and producer/drummer
Tom Hambridge push through the doors of Nashville’s famous Soundstage Studios. And while the studio band was strictly A-list, as always, Ally’s new songs are the real stars. That attitude is palpable on opener “Brown Liquor,” Ally’s battlecry decorated by a stinging guest guitar solo from the Mississippi hotshot Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram.

“Money & Power shouts to the masses,” she explains, “that women are not to be doubted in their ability to thrive in the world.”

Vital right to the end, Money & Power plays out with “
Stepping Stone’s” earthy roar of empowerment, the shuddering, spooky, tremolo-soaked groove of “Feel That Sting,” and the dust-blown rocker “Unbreakable,” where Ally goes toe-to-toe with New York powerhouse Shemekia Copeland.

“That song spreads a message of women that have been oppressed,” she says, “to rise to the occasion and break above it all.”

Money & Power is a modern roots record that plays by its own rules and marches to the beat of its own drum. The same could be said for Ally herself. “I’m thrilled to release this album,” she says. “For me, it’s a sonic embodiment of a woman’s unstoppable ambition, and showcases my musicality on all fronts. I’m looking forward to seeing where this one will take me.”

New Jersey artist Greg Amici presents his new album 'Tragicomic', a storied set of 12 songs released by Montclair-based indie imprint Magic Door Record Label. On the trail of the classic rock stinger 'No Fool' and initial single 'I'll Be Back', this record offers a blend of absurdist-rock, ska, Americana, folk-punk and straight-up classic rock, with a clear-eyed view of the world through Amici’s unique lens. Greg's lyrics often offer an unexpected turn of phrase, delivered with full-throated rock power.

With roots firmly planted in Jersey, his creative journey has taken him from the heart of Manhattan to Los Angeles and back again. In the late '90s, Greg formed Big Honey, a NYC-based band whose rise peaked with an appearance at the CMJ Music Festival but paused indefinitely when a vocal polyp sidelined Greg for years. Despite this setback, he didn't let his distinctive voice and songwriting abilities go to waste, returning to the studio after a 16-year hiatus.

Reuniting with producer James Mastro (The Bongos, Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter) and engineer / drummer Ray Ketchem (Guided by Voices, Elk City, Gramercy Arms, Luna) at Magic Door Studio in Montclair, the creative process inevitably led to an array of upbeat satires ('Cynthia, Come to Me', 'No Fool') and ominous ballads ('Junky Eyes', 'In Like a Lion'). The resultant 'Tragicomic' album was mastered by award-winning engineer Greg Calbi (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty).

"When we first started recording back in 2019, I told Jim Mastro I had a vibe for Patti Smith’s 'Waves' album. Ironically, Tony Shanahan wound up playing on most of the cuts. That said, I kind of just trusted Jim’s instincts in whatever direction he took them. For the more comic songs, like 'Cynthia, Come to Me' and 'Tom Seaver', I wanted a carnivalesque sound, and Jim got that on keyboards and guitar synths," says Greg Amici.

The 'Tragicomic' album also involved former Amici bandmates
Joe Gentile (Big Honey) and Tommy Aboussleman (Electric TNT), along with special guests Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith Band) and Renee LoBue (Elk City) contributing to the recording. Whether it’s a "serial killer romance" or a biting satire, Greg Amici proves that a Jersey count knows how to count on rock ‘n’ roll.

Calling himself a "count in name only", tracing his aristocratic lineage through Italian family names such as Benedetti, Stalute and Scala, Greg found his calling as a musician in high school, inspired by local bands. Picking up the guitar in his late teens, he founded his first band, The Clergy, and later teamed up with a musical partner to form the '80s alt-rock band Junk.

As of June 13, the 'Tragicomic' album is available from fine online music platforms, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp. The double-gatefold limited-edition vinyl LP Includes lyrics and liner notes. The CD comes with a CD wallet and includes a 16-page booklet with lyrics and liner notes.

Amici also has another album on the horizon later this year, chronicling decades of songwriting with characters ranging from teenagers to 30-somethings. He will be supporting this album with a series of live performances, to be announced soon.

Bruce Springsteen - New song 'Sunday Love' out now - ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’ feat. 7 never-heard, full-length records arrives 27th June.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’S ‘TWILIGHT HOURS’ — A NEVER-HEARD HOMAGE TO AMERICAN POP STANDARDS — IS PREVIEWED WITH SUNDAY LOVE

TRACKS II: THE LOST ALBUMS ARRIVES 27 JUNE VIA SONY MUSIC, FEATURING 'TWILIGHT HOURS' AS ONE OF SEVEN PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SPRINGSTEEN RECORDS.

Bruce Springsteen explores orchestra-driven mid-century noir on 'Twilight Hours' — an ode to the great American pop music tradition — which arrives on 27th June on “Tracks II: The Lost Albums” (Sony Music). Written in tandem with 2019’s “Western Stars,” over the course of a decade, it’s a collection that Springsteen describes as “romantic, lost-in-the-city songs” — ruminating on what becomes of the brokenhearted. The album is previewed today with a never-heard Springsteen original, “Sunday Love”, which features contributions from The E Street Band’s Max Weinberg, Patti Scialfa and Soozie Tyrell as well as producer Ron Aniello, and “Western Stars” collaborators Kaveh Rastegar and Scott Tibbs.

LISTEN TO 'SUNDAY LOVE' HERE

“At one time it was either a double record [with “Western Stars”] or they were part of the same record,” explained Springsteen. “I love Burt Bacharach and I love those kinds of songs and those kinds of songwriters. I took a swing at it because the chordal structures and everything are much more complicated, which was fun for me to pull off. All this stuff could have come right off of those sixties albums.” Simultaneously, “Twilight Hours” finds Springsteen taking inspiration from the vocal work of Frank Sinatra and Andy Williams, the prose of Flannery O’Connor and James M. Cain, and the Robert Mitchum film “Out Of The Past.”

“Tracks II: The Lost Albums” arrives later this month on June 27, and will include seven previously-unheard Bruce Springsteen records in full: “Twilight Hours” as well as “Perfect World” (listen to “Rain in the River”), “Streets of Philadelphia Sessions” (listen to “Blind Spot”), “Faithless” (listen to the title track), “Somewhere North of Nashville” (listen to “Repo Man”), “Inyo” (listen to “Adelita”) and “LA Garage Sessions ’83.”

A set spanning 83 songs, “Tracks II” will be available in limited-edition nine LP, seven CD and digital formats — including distinctive packaging for each previously-unreleased record. Also included will be a 100-page cloth-bound, hardcover book featuring rare archival photos, liner notes on each lost album from essayist Erik Flannigan and a personal introduction to the project from Springsteen himself. A companion set — “Lost and Found: Selections From The Lost Albums” — also arrives on 27 June from Sony Music, and will feature 20 highlights from across the collection on two LPs or one CD.

Bruce Springsteen - New song 'Adelita' available now - Tracks II: The Lost Albums’ feat. 7 never-heard, full-length records arrives 27th June.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN’S NEVER-RELEASED ‘INYO’ BRINGS RICHLY-WOVEN BORDER TALES TO ‘TRACKS II: THE LOST ALBUMS’ (27 JUNE / SONY MUSIC)

LISTEN TO 'ADELITA' HERE

Bruce Springsteen’s latest preview of 'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' arrives today with 'Adelita', an ode to Mexico’s female “soldaderas” — who played a major role in the country’s fight for independence. Inspired to explore themes of this nature in the 1990s, during a series of motorcycle trips across the Southwest, Springsteen’s years in California saw him diving into both the history of the region (including “La Adelita,” the “corrido” that serves as this song’s namesake) and its contemporary events. “There was constant border reporting in the Los Angeles Times, so it was a big part of your life,” he remembered. The results appear for the first time on “Tracks II” as 'Inyo' — a previously-unheard, ten-song thematic collection set throughout the border states of California and Texas (plus one detour to New Jersey).

“‘Inyo’ was a record I wrote in California during long drives along the California aqueduct, up through Inyo County on my way to Yosemite or Death Valley,” recalled Springsteen. “I was enjoying that kind of writing so much. [On ‘The Ghost Of Tom Joad’ tour] I would go home to the hotel room at night and continue to write in that style because I thought I was going to follow up ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ with a similar record, but I didn’t. That’s where ‘Inyo’ came from. It’s one of my favorites.”

While primarily tracked as a solo record, “Inyo” does notably find Springsteen collaborating with mariachi musicians throughout — as heard on 'Adelita'. These musicians include Luis Villalobos, Alberto Villalobos, Angel Ramos, Humberto Manuel Flores Gutierrez, David Glukh, Jorge Espinosa and Miguel Ponce. Thematically, several songs on the record examine the Mexican diaspora, how border crossing between Mexico and the U.S. has affected generations and the cultural losses endured as a result. It’s a musical thread that Springsteen first began to examine by covering Ry Cooder’s “Across the Borderline” on his 1988 Tunnel of Love Express tour.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have recently kicked off The Land of Hope & Dreams Tour in Manchester and are set to perform two shows in Liverpool's Anfield Stadium this week. The band will play 16 European shows this summer for over 700,000 fans, the last leg of “one of the most successful tours of all time” (Pollstar) — “the greatest show on earth” (Billboard) and "a masterclass in the uplifting power of rock-and-roll" (Washington Post). Justin Hayward: Amended Birmingham date, plus a new show in Brighton on ‘Forever Autumn’ Tour.

Justin Hayward, The Voice of the Moody Blues, will undertake The ‘Forever Autumn’ Tour of 11 venues in October and November 2025. The shows are on general sale now. Tickets available from ticketline.co.uk, ticketmaster.co.uk and the venues direct; the Birmingham date has moved to 3 November. Additionally, there will now be a further date at Brighton’s Theatre Royal on 2 November, promoted by JOY Concerts, tickets from https://www.axs.com/uk/events/997323/justin-hayward-tickets.

Justin Hayward says, “I always enjoy touring the UK. When I was in a local group in Swindon, we were offered a tour of the North of England and Scotland and I thought, ‘This is it - this is living”. British music - and British music fans - have a special place in the world of music, and I’m privileged that my songs are a part of that. The same goes for ‘Forever Autumn’. Wherever I go in the world people seem to know the song and associate it with my voice. It feels right to acknowledge ‘Forever Autumn’ this autumn.

“Mike, Julie, Karmen and myself are always trying to do something original and fresh, and thanks to guitar tech Josh , who has learnt exactly how to play my own acoustic parts on many songs, it means my beloved Gibson 335 electric guitar will be playing a bigger part in the show this year. Sharing songs that I have written, new and old, and playing many of them live for the first time on our 'Forever Autumn' 2025 tour will be a joy.”

Justin Hayward OBE has enjoyed a career which is now in its fifth decade. The vocalist, lead guitarist and composer for the iconic Moody Blues, had hits including the masterful ‘Nights in White Satin’, ‘Tuesday Afternoon’, ‘Question’, ‘The Voice’ and the US top 40 hits ‘I Know You’re Out there Somewhere’ and In Your Wildest Dreams’: plus other classic, era and genre-defining hits. These laid the foundation for the incredible success story of the Moody Blues – as well as solo work.

Already established as a songwriter, he joined the Moody Blues in 1966. Hitting his stride with “Fly Me High,” he followed with ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Tuesday Afternoon’ from seminal albumDays of Future Past. The Moody Blues sold 70 million albums worldwide, with 18 platinum and gold LPs. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

Justin created several solo albums such as Songwriter, Night Flight, Moving Mountains and ‘Classic Blue’ with Mike Batt, and The View From the Hill. He hit the Top Ten globally in 1978 with ‘Forever Autumn’ – created for Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, he starred in its spectacular live production. His Spirits Of The Western Sky (2013) was followed by DVD ‘Spirits…Live’, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Video chart. All The Way followed - a compilation of solo work and live cuts. In 2020, Justin took to YouTube for the ‘Tuesday Afternoon Video Series’: this led to the digital album ‘Tuesday Afternoons: The Audio Files’. In 2021 he released ‘One Summer Day’ and ‘My Juliette’, and ‘Living For Love’ in 2022.

Justin spent much of 2023 and 2024 on the road - with several solo tours, along with two ‘On The Blue’ cruises, and a sell-out tour co-headlining in the USA with Christopher Cross. In September 2023, Justin was privileged to perform with the Athens State Symphony Orchestra at the Herodes Atticus historic amphitheatre in Athens, Greece. In 2024 Justin found time to make some new recordings, reuniting with The London Philharmonic Orchestra, for release this year.

The ‘Forever Autumn’ Tour 2025 represents a rare chance for Justin Hayward’s fans to connect with one of music’s keenest talents and to hear the music that he loves, presented with a truly personal touch. See also www.justinhayward.com

Critically acclaimed guitarist and singer Orianthi will release her new studio album Some Kind of Feeling via Woodward Avenue Records digitally on June 27, on CD on August 15, and on vinyl on September 19.

The album is now available to pre-order from https://orcd.co/OrianthiSKOF.

Orianthi produced three songs from the new album including “
First Time Blues,” “Ghost,” and “Bad For Each Other.” The remaining seven songs on the album, including the new single “Attention,” are produced by Kevin “The Caveman” Shirley (Beth Hart, Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor).

Orianthi’s new single "
Attention” is released Friday May 16th and is available on all streaming platforms HERE.

Watch the official music video for “Attention” on YouTube HERE.

Though the lyrics of Orianthi’s latest fiery, kick-ass single “Attention,” exposes an annoying ex-lover’s habit of drunk texting to rile up her cooled passions, its title, on a deeper level makes us think about the kind of attention we’ve been paying to the singer/songwriter and virtuoso electric guitarist over the past 20 years. Seems nothing can ever be written about the multi-talented veteran artist without mentioning her collaborations with
Alice CooperDave Stewart and Richie Sambora, and the fact that Michael Jackson hired her for his London performances the year of his untimely death.

Equal “Attention” should also be paid to her success as an artist in her own right, starting with her Top 20 Billboard pop hit “According to You” and gold-selling Geffen album Believe, released in 2009. While playing with legends over the years, she’s continued to build her discography with numerous albums on different labels.

Her prolific streak of stylistically diverse singles in 2024 on Woodward Avenue – “
First Time Blues” with Joe Bonamassa, “Ghost” and “Some Kind of Feeling” – launches a fresh, adventurous new phase of her solo career, an era of exciting creativity and powerhouse contemporary rock and roll.

Penned by OrianthiDon Miggs and Gregory Hanson, “Attention” is a classic styled power rocker that marks her second track produced and mixed by the legendary Kevin “The Caveman” Shirley, whose surreally extensive resume includes Bonamassa, Journey, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Dream Theater and countless artists from his home country of South Africa and his later adopted home of Australia.

After an edgy, rhythmic electric guitar intro, Orianthi uses her silky, sultry vocal tone to bring us into a compelling scenario where she’s free from a complicated relationship and living life on her own terms now: “I ain’t at the Whisky/Waiting on you/Or staring at the ceiling/Sitting in a hotel room…” Then the groove, propelled by bassist Justin Andres and drummer Demian Arriaga, kicks up, and over more rhythmic, crunchy guitar energy, she tells her former significant other, “I’m sipping on tequila/With someone you knew/And you’re out on tour/Doing what you always do.” She doesn’t specify, but it feels like code for “screwing around like you did on me.”

As the track develops, Orianthi’s increasingly emotional vocals convey frustration and exasperation, then everything explodes on the killer hook where she really lets the guy have it: “You’re so predictable/You do it every time/Drunk checking on me/In the middle of the night/You know what you put me through/U just want attention.” She wraps the chorus with the mic drop line: “I’m done thinking about you,” which is followed by a cool melodic earworm of wordless background vocals.

After some clever wordplay in the second verse (“Ambien and alcohol/Swearing I’m the love of your life”) and another romp through the high-octane chorus (where he repeats “I’m done thinking about you” a few times for good measure, Orianthi gets to the magic that every fan waits for – her blazing solo action. It’s 30 seconds of wild abandon, pure hyperkinetic rock and roll bliss, an effortless fire with a blaze of high notes that allows her to say with her axe something deeper that even the biting lyrics can’t: I’m so over you! “Attention” is best appreciated via its dynamic performance video, which shows a few close ups of her intricate guitarisma. After another run through the hook, Orianthi repeats “I’m done thinking about you” over and over as her guitar wails behind her vocals for heavier emphasis.

With every new single, Orianthi reminds us that she’s at the top of her game in every way, finding fresh, vulnerable yet attitude-filled musical stories to tell, and allowing us to experience the guitar chops that have made her a modern-day rock hero.

“The Commoners, a band showing no fear, as they release a

live album to end all live albums.” – Planet Mosh, 5-Stars

Today, Canadian Roots-Rock band The Commoners have released their new album The Commoners - Live in the UK to coincide with their UK and European tour.

Riding high off the strength of their previous releases,
Find A Better Way and Restless, the UK and European tour takes in a four-week tour across five countries, The Commoners: Live In The UK was recorded when the band were on tour in the UK in 2024. Released by Gypsy Soul Records, the album is available on CD and vinyl HERE, and digital HERE.

“The UK has become a second home for us,” says the Commoners bassist, Ben Spiller. “Over the last couple of years, we have had the pleasure of rocking dozens of shows over the course of 4 UK tours. Every time we head back things get bigger and better. On our last run through the UK with The Sheepdogs, we had the idea to record a few of our final shows. The recordings sounded huge, and we immediately knew we had to do something with them.”

Mixed and mastered by The Commoners’ lead guitarist
Ross Hayes Citrullo at RHC Music in Toronto, this album features nine tracks from the Find A Better Way and Restless albums, featuring extended intros, outros, solos, and brand new never-before-heard parts of the songs.

“This album means a lot to the band because what you hear is 100% authentically us,” says Citrullo. “It’s the true Commoners live show experience, captured from the perspective of a fan in the crowd. It’s loose, heavy, and full of energy. We were wrapping up a long tour when we recorded this… the band was riding high. You can feel the energy in the room, it’s electric.”

The first single from taken from the live album, “
The Way I Am,” is available to stream HERE.

Stream the audio on YouTube at https://youtu.be/FFMGM_fycSg.

"Push Puppets know how to make music that is vaguely familiar and brilliantly original; songs that already feel like classics... the honest and relatable lyrics makes you think of the best of Difford or Tilbrook’s post-Squeeze creations" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Meticulously crafted soundscapes recalling the infectious hooks of Fastball, clever lyrical turns of Ben Folds Five, the shimmering polish of Gin Blossoms... a clear understanding how to construct compelling musical moments" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Melodic rock with a philosophical, optimistic message... a warm, radio-friendly sound... the string quartet contributes an extra dimension to the song’s dramatic effect" ~ Skylight Webzine

"The perfect balance between accessibility and pop sensibilities to create a dynamic that feels both engaging and introspective... Effortlessly blending catchy melodies with heartfelt emotion, Push Puppets marks another impressive chapter in their evolving sound" ~ Music-News.com

Chicago indie pop-rock outfit Push Puppets presents their new dynamic and multifaceted album 'Tethered Together', their fourth to date, released via Flowering Tree Music.

The creative outlet for singer-songwriter and guitarist Erich Specht, Push Puppets creates songs with earworm melodies and shiny production that belie often-bittersweet sentiments. Specht (lead vocals, guitar) is joined by a core of Steve Frisbie (backup vocals, guitar), Kyle Magnusson (keyboards), John William Lauler (bass) and Greg Essig (drums). Most of the songs on this album also involve a string quartet, with a horn section on one.

"This album offers a nod to the artistic excesses of the 70s, whether it's a wall of phased vocals or a moment where guitars and strings rip a quick line together between phrases. The tracks are widely varied yet cohesive - and within a given song, you're likely to be taken elsewhere," says Erich Specht.

‘Tethered Together’ was produced by Doug McBride (Smashing Pumpkins, Veruca Salt, Silversun Pickups, Cheap Trick) and Erich Specht, this album being mixed and mastered by Doug McBride at Gravity Studios in Chicago.

Push Puppets also introduce a new video for 'Hearts Aren’t Souvenirs', a genre-bending tune about holding on to a relationship too long. Stylistically it’s hard to place, having traits of Americana with a funky Memphis-style bass line in an absolute earworm of a chorus and a rocking bridge that takes it somewhere else entirely. Whatever it is, it’s done with authority as songwriter Erich Specht explores many angles that serve the subject matter.

Depicting human hearts from past relationships being added to a collection, this video was edited and animated by Metamorse Studio and produced by Scott Thiele and Sebastian Gonzales. This team also realized the videos for ‘Similar’ and 'All Together On 3' with the band joined by a string quartet, comprised of Stephanie “Sly” Young on violin, Katherine Andrick on viola, Molly Rife on cello and Kelly Jozwiak on violin (note: Janis Sakai performs in the audio recording).

This record is graced with impeccable songwriting that shines with lush harmonies, angular guitars, dramatic keyboards and strings backed by a smoking rhythm section. Erich Specht muses on relationships and loss, as well as the weight and joy of life, in a manner that is poetic and seems effortless, his lyrics fitting to the melody like pieces of a puzzle. Wearing his vulnerabilities like a badge of honor, this music takes us on a journey to unexpected places.

Erich Specht shares, "Our music is not about a genre or a particular fashionable sound. We're slaves to the song and try to allow it to reach its potential with no regard for how it fits the style of the time. While we certainly build upon our influences, we are happiest exporing new territory. think when you set out to make a song complicated, it can sound contrived. I love it when I chase a part I'm imagining that happens gracefully, and then I discover that there's something weird about it."

Kicking off with the arena-rocking anthem ‘Similar', which explores universal connections, and 'Hearts Aren’t Souvenirs', 'Probably' offers a poignant tribute with a dramatic string-laden conclusion. The superb 'All Together On 3' builds progressively to a cathartic blend of live strings and desperate vocals, highlighting the strength found in unity.

The album continues its sonic journey with the dramatic and evolving 'Launching a Satellite', culminating in a striking interplay between strings and electric guitar. 'This Whole Endeavor' hooks the listener with a memorable piano riff while recounting the ebb and flow of a past relationship. A lighthearted interlude arrives with the retro rocker 'Tell Colleen to Calm Down', followed by the Spanish-tinged inhibition-shedding 'Shake It Like You Mean It'. The album delves into the pain of lost love in the Americana-influenced 'Hearts Are Fragile' before reaching a powerful and dramatic conclusion with 'The Logical Conclusion', driven by intense strings and piano.

On May 16, the 'Tethered Together' album is available on CD, digitally on fine digital platforms, and can be obtained in either format directly from the artist via Bandcamp. Push Puppets' album release show will take place at Robert's Westside in Forest Park, IL on May 30.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN EXPLORES COUNTRY COMBOS AND PEDAL STEEL ON NEVER-HEARD RECORD ‘SOMEWHERE NORTH OF NASHVILLE’

12-SONG COLLECTION ARRIVES JUNE 27, AS ONE OF 7 UNRELEASED FULL-LENGTHS AVAILABLE ON ‘TRACKS II: THE LOST ALBUMS’ (SONY MUSIC)

Bruce Springsteen will release “Somewhere North of Nashville” in full on “Tracks II: The Lost Albums” (out June 27 via Sony Music), a previously-unheard collection inspired by the sounds of honky tonk, rockabilly and uptempo country. Recorded simultaneously with “The Ghost of Tom Joad” in the summer of 1995, “Somewhere North of Nashville” features much of the core band at the heart of those sessions — including Danny Federici, Garry Tallent and Gary Mallaber. Adding elements like pedal steel from Marty Rifkin (later a member of The Sessions Band) and fiddle from Soozie Tyrell, “Somewhere North Of Nashville” would ultimately mark Springsteen’s first time cutting material live in the studio, with a full band, since “Born In The U.S.A.”

“What happened was I wrote all these country songs at the same time I wrote ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad.’ Those sessions completely overlap each other. I’m singing ‘Repo Man’ in the afternoon and ‘The Line’ at night. So the country record got made right along with ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad,’” Springsteen recalled. “‘Streets of Philadelphia’ got me connected to my socially conscious or topical songwriting. So that’s where ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’ came from. But at the same time I had this country streak that was also running through those sessions and I ended up making a country record on the side.”

In addition to the release of 'Repo Man', Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band kicked off The Land of Hope & Dreams Tour in Manchester, England last week. The first of 16 scheduled dates this summer to over 700,000 fans, the 2025 European run will conclude “one of the most successful tours of all time” (Pollstar) — which has been called “the greatest show on earth” (Billboard) and "a masterclass in the uplifting power of rock-and-roll" (Washington Post).
